The Australian Investment Securities Commission (ASIC) has replaced the original 'Companies Not to Deal with' list with a new 'Investor Warning List' to help investors better protect themselves, and began its first update on November 8th this year. The Investor Warning List can help investors understand which companies, enterprises, websites or entities are not trustworthy.
The entities appearing on the list target Australian financial consumers but have not obtained the Australian Financial Services (AFS) license issued by ASIC and are not allowed to provide investment services in Australia. However, the list is not exhaustive, and even entities that do not appear on the list may be fraudulent.
On November 14, 2023, the "Investor Warning List" updated the websites or contact information of 26 unlicensed entities, including 6 "impersonation platforms". ASIC advised investors not to engage in trading activities with listed companies or individuals.
